Herbal Foraging Tour
MAY 9 - 10:00 AM. Learn how to identify and use herbs in your yard!
Tour Description
Ashley Murphy, Herbalist and Owner of Abeca Naturals will be leading this wonderful foraging tour at the farm. Ashley brings a wealth of knowledge about local herbs. She will show us how to identify and gather wild plants safely and use them to support our health. This tour is for adults and kids ages 10 and up. Ashley presents information to keep all ages engaged. There is quite a bit of walking around the farm to find the herbs, so wear comfortable walking shoes. The tour is not handicap accessible. There will be time after the tour to meet the sheep and goats. Registration fee is $10 per participant ages 10 and up. Each participant (or family) must complete the booking form, accepting the farm rules and SC Agritourism laws.
Farm Protocols
1. Be On Time We respect our guests time, so please arrive on time for your tour. Tours are given during scheduled times, and if you arrive late, we may need to cut your tour short. 2. Prohibited items: There is absolutely no tobacco products, vaping products, chewing gum, or outside treats for the animals allowed on the farm. This is required to ensure the protection of our animals. 3. No pets are allowed on the farm for the safety of our animals. The only exception to this is medical service dogs. If you require a medical service dog you will need to let us know ahead of time so we can make appropriate accommodation for our personal pets. 4. Wear Appropriate Shoes Be sure to wear comfortable, durable shoes that can get dirty or wet. We recommend closed toe shoes. There is walking on uneven ground. Tours are not handicap accessible. 5. Treat Animals With Respect Please be kind to our animals. Do not poke, hit, chase or yell at an animal. We would like our animals to continue enjoying guests and not be frightened by them. Entry into any animal pasture or pen is prohibited unless the farm owner invites you in. This is for the safety of our guests and our animals. Please do not feed our animals anything unless the farmer has given permission. Many things can be toxic to animals that are ok for humans to eat. Any child found chasing or otherwise worrying an animal will be asked to return to the vehicle with adult supervision. Being a bully is never OK, even if your victim is “only” a chicken. 6. Gates Do not open any gates to animal enclosures. All gates are to remain closed. 7. Don’t Harvest Without Permission Harvesting from or otherwise interacting with plants in the gardens or orchards without supervision is prohibited. 8. No Climbing Allowed Please do not climb trees or play on equipment. Most of our trees are fruit, nut, or flower bearing trees and can be damaged with climbing. 9. Sign The Liability Release Form All tour participants are required to sign the liability release form. No exceptions. Submission of the form during registration acts as your signed release form. 10. Bring hat, sunscreen and water if the weather is warm; dress in layers if it’s cold. Please ask questions—we’ll think you’re extra smart if you do since it’s the best way to learn.
